A multi layered crispy and puffy structure which is light yellow in colour mainly made of wheat floor, maida, sugar, cardamom, aniseeds and ghee.
Generally it is 12 to 16 layered structure making it a unique sweet snack. Silao near Gaya is famous for Khaja and is linked with historical time back to King Vikramaditya of Magadh Kingdom. Another myth is that Lord Budha was offered this sweet when he passed Silao while going to Nalanda from Rajgir.
